Physiotherapy Initial Assessment
Pilates is a low-impact exercise system that emphasises core strength, flexibility, and overall body alignment. Developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, it uses controlled movements to engage muscles deeply, promoting both physical strength and mental focus. Pilates exercises can be done on a mat or with specialized equipment like reformers, which use springs and pulleys to add resistance. The method is designed to improve posture, balance, and coordination while toning muscles without adding bulk.
Beyond its physical benefits, Pilates also fosters mind-body awareness. Each movement is performed with attention to breath, precision, and concentration, helping to create a strong connection between body and mind. This makes Pilates not only a highly effective workout for those seeking to enhance their physical fitness, but also a valuable practice for stress relief and mental well-being.
Initial Individual Pilates Assessment
During your initial 30-minute assessment, we will take the time to gather comprehensive details about your medical history and the specific condition you’re dealing with. This may involve conducting various tests and evaluations to ensure a precise diagnosis.
Following the assessment, you’ll receive a tailored treatment plan, which may include hands-on therapy and exercises to carry out both at home and during future sessions with your physiotherapist. We will also provide clear time frames and set realistic goals to support your progress and recovery.
Our goal is to ensure you understand each step of the process and feel empowered on your path to recovery and well-being.
Follow up consultations for Pilates assessment and individual sessions
We offer 30-minute Pilates sessions tailored to your individual needs, available in both one-on-one and small group (1:2) settings. You’ll receive personalised guidance throughout each exercise, with the difficulty and intensity adjusted as you progress.
Your physiotherapist will regularly review your goals and progress, ensuring that your Pilates journey continues to align with your health and fitness objectives.
